Spring 2013 (otherwise known as March, April, and May - see photos by month below!)

Spring has certainly sprung!

It seems that we have had so many exciting things over these last few months, that we haven’t found time to share them with you! We can’t believe that June is literally around the corner – thank goodness for a quiet Memorial Weekend getaway and quiet afternoon nap period to finally reflect and share!  Our photo galleries will tell much of the story of our last few months, but here are some highlights (in a slightly long-ish post)…

We were able to celebrate birthdays with lots of our friends!  We had fun celebrating birthdays with our NVPOM playgroup friends Molly and Andrew (where we ate cookie monster cake and helped break a piñata); with our friend Caroline from school (where we tried our first moonbounce); with our friend Zack and his family  (an early nod at Cinco De Mayo with dinner at Tequila Grande); with our friend Spencer from our new class (and Spiderman!), and with our Vienna playgroup friends Colton and Brooklyn (where we got to pet a bunny and sit on a pony!).

At the beginning of March, we started going to preschool at Mommy’s school (Colvin Run) in the mornings.  Now we get to go to school with Mommy, play in her room, see all the kids get off the bus at school, play with Ms. Willa and our new friends, and then take the bus over to Chesterbrook for nap and play with all our other friends.  What a fun new adventure it has been exploring Mommy’s school, and riding the bus!

Soon after starting our new school, it was time for Spring Break!  The first day of break, it SNOWED!  We got to sled and make a really neat snowman.  The next day, it started getting warm again, and soon it was all melted away.  Grandma and Grandpa Keller came to visit for Easter!  They helped us make bunnies, and went with us to the park, to our very first egg hunt, and out to dinner for Mommy and Daddy’s 4th anniversary.  We got to sit together at Easter service and had another fun egg hunt afterward.  Then we shared a nice quiet brunch and visit at our house before they had to go home.  We had so much fun visiting!

The next weekend, Grandma and Grandpa Sturgeon came too!  Christopher wasn’t feeling very well, unfortunately, but he got some moments of play in where he could.  Luckily, Grandma is a great snuggler!  We had fun playing with bubbles on the porch, and hunting for eggs in Grandpa’s pockets!

After Christopher (and Daddy and Mommy) started feeling better, the rest of April was a mixture of activity.  We went out for a special dinner at Clyde’s Of Willow Creek, where Mommy and Daddy celebrated their wedding four years ago. We had lots of fun exploring there!  On the weekends, we continued our swim lessons, explored Meadowlark, spent a day at the zoo with Daddy while Mommy had to work, and went out to dinner with our friend Zack’s family at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants.

At the beginning of May, we walked in our third annual March of Dimes “March For Babies”.  It was a beautiful morning, and we had a great walk!  While we were excited to ride in our backpacks again, we especially enjoyed walking across the finish line all by ourselves!  And this year, we were big enough to stick around and enjoy the festivities a little more!

Other highlights of the month included lots of birthday celebrations. In addition to birthday celebrations, we helped to prepare and deliver thank you flowers and treats to our teachers and bus drivers, so we’ve really got the hang of cards, balloons, and gift bags now!  :)

We had fun going out for a special brunch, opening cards we made and helping Mommy plant her favorite flowers for Mother’s day.   We also got to help put our baby bean plants from school into pots at home, so we can water them and continue to watch them grow.  And we used our gardening expertise to join our friends from church at the park to help with a garden plot that benefits a special program nearby called SHARE.  We pulled weeds, tried our hand at the watering can, and even got to harvest their first radishes of the season; then had a fun picnic and played at the park with our friends.

We also got to meet our new friend, Miss Kristy, who will be taking care of us after pre-school next fall, when we start going to Holy Comforter.  We are looking forward to getting know her and playing with her kids too!

And we ended the month with a second annual hiking trip to Shenandoah National Park over Memorial Day weekend.  We tried our hand at hiking some stretches on our own, and got to ride in our backpacks too!  We saw some historic sites, some waterfalls, and lots and lots of pretty rocks, trees, flowers, and waterfalls.  What an adventure it was to experience these sights, to play in our room, take walks outside, to eat out at the lodge… At first, we kept wondering aloud “Hey, where is the trip?”, because we knew we were going on one.  Pretty soon, we realized that the hiking and sleeping in tents (in our room) WAS the trip, and had SO much fun exploring!!
Well, we’re about all up to date!  We hope you had a wonderful spring too. Just a few more weeks until summer break!  :)

We hope you enjoy our photos (March, April, and May are below!)

Love,

Katharine and Christopher
